| The story begins in the small village of Bergazzi in the Appenine Hills of Northern Italy, the home of Lazzaro and Maria Bertorelli, whose four sons ventured to England in the early 1900s David, one of those four sons, opened a caffè in Charlotte Street in the heart of fashionable Fitzrovia. His brothers Celeste, Ludovico and Giuseppe soon joined him and, with the most basic kitchen and just five tables they served traditional English food to cabbies and local chauffeurs.
