I came across the take away from the Prince Of India restaurant at a friends home and decided to give it a try.There are some business you go to and you are treated as if they can do without your patronage - the Prince of India is different. A waiter opens the door when you arrive and when you leave , they walk you to the door carrying your order for you - would be nice if they could also drive me home - they probably would!They are very polite over there! Back home I was impressed with my take away , generous portions. I ordered a kima fried rice and a chicken pathia. Immediatey I opened the pack , I caught a strong aroma filled my nostrils , Iknew I was in for a treat- the chicken was tender and spicy ! Next time I go, Ill eat in.If they treat take outs so well , then what about eat in customers

Wonderful restaurant-I cant praise them enough! Never mind its minimalist appearance, the quality of service is high, the tables are clean , the food is hot & fresh.I especially lovet the personal sevice I got

One word phenomenal!! The food was excellent, looking at their menu, I was spoilt for choice.When my food arrived, it was better than I expected. I am HOOKED and so will anyone who goes there.

Ignore the negative reviews – GO see the Prince of India I saw the negative reviews about the prince of India and went to see for myself.It is nowhere as bad as some make it to be.The staff are really polite and at your service. The food is wonderful;, I ordered a chicken tikka starter which was served with a delicious mint sauce.My main meal was their specialty Balti chilli garlic massala which did not take time to come.I ate while being serenaded by beautiful Indian music playing in the background.Truly wonderful.Ill be more cautious of restaurant reviews and go see for myself.

I was extremely impressed when I visited Prince of India Portree on 20/01/11.This particular Indian restaurant has really friendly and attentive staff.The atmosphere is very relaxing,nice and very very delicious food I would say.There are varieties of food and trust me you want to choose all of them!!Well,worth visit and I would highly recommend my friends to go there to enjoy and experience the taste of authentic mouthwatering food.

We went to portree to celebrate my brother in laws wedding anniversary, really don’t know why we entered to that horrible place called Prince of India. Food rubbish and exactly same as the previous person described…. King prawn was baby prawn, food cold and all microwave used…. Paid around £65 for four of us… and hay this people don’t take card payment, guess why..

A friend and I recently had the misfortune of choosing the Prince of India for meal whilst staying in Portree. I had my doubts when passing through the front door. It just doesn't look like an Indian resturant should look. Next came the beer. No large Cobras here people, small bottles of lager for only £3 per bottle. We ordered our meal and were not at all impressed with what arrived. The pakora batter was soggy and bright red. Microwave job and plenty of food colouring to give the authentic "spicey" look methinks. The main courses were a joke. The rice was equivalent to about 3 table spoons and the main dish consisted of not much more both in the way of meat and sauce. The meat, yes the meat! I found 6 small pieces of "meat" at around 1.5cm square. I had ordered lamb, so you can imagine my surprise when I cut through a piece and discovered that it was white. Now, maybe it's just me, but I've never seen a piece of WHITE lamb in my lifetime, and before anyone asks, I've been around for quite some time. I cut through the rest of the "meat" and some of it looked like real lamb should look. However I would estimate that at least 50% of it was WHITE. MAYBE THEY GOT THE LAMB AND THE CHICKEN MIXED UP IN THE KITCHEN? The waiter reassured me that it was indeed white lamb. So her is the summary .......... 1 starter (soggy batter cooked reheat in microwave) 2 main courses (adequate sauce but very small portion of lamb and chicken) 1 nan (very small) 1 rice (very small) 3 chapati's (very small) 1 beer (just small) 1 soft drink (no problem here) The bill was pennies off £40. I don't know why, but I left that place with the feeling that my wallet had just been dipped. The Skye Guide (The independent guide to the Isle of Skye) states that the Prince of India isn't cheap, and they don't accept credit, or debit, cards. Why is that? I wonder.
